Discipline, creativity, and dynamic storytelling

I am Robert Richnavsky, an actor, fight choreographer, and martial artist based in Northwest Connecticut. With over two decades of experience, I specialize in bringing dynamic storytelling to life through compelling performances and stage combat sequences.

I hold a BA in Theatre with a concentration in Acting from Columbia College Chicago and have been a proud member of the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) since 2004. I have passed stage proficiency tests in all eight SAFD weapons, Broadsword, Single Sword, Knife, Sword and Shield, Quarterstaff, Smallsword and Unarmed. I have choreographed fights for numerous productions across professional, academic, and community theaters.

My martial arts background is extensive, including a second-degree black belt in Ketsu-Ka (Hamzy’s School of Self Defense), a first-degree black belt in WTF Taekwondo, and eight years of training in historical European martial arts (HEMA), specializing in the German school of longsword fencing (KDF). I am proficient in longsword, sword and buckler, polearms, dagger, Langsmesser, Ringen, and unarmed techniques.

In addition to performing and choreographing, I have taught stage combat at institutions such as the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education, Quinnipiac University, and various workshops. My approach combines technical precision, storytelling, and safety to empower performers and captivate audiences.

Crafting impact

With my extensive background in acting, fight choreography, and martial arts, I offer the skills and experience to create compelling, authentic performances and safe, impactful stage combat sequences. Whether you’re seeking dynamic storytelling or technical precision, I’m ready to help elevate your production to its fullest potential.
